“So… you guys wanna hear a story?”
The Death Dames podcast was created in an effort to combine a huge number of different topics into one mixed up podcast. Death Dames is described as being a True Crime/Comedy/Science/History podcast, and each episode has a story (either a true crime or dark history story) and a brief research topic relating to the story, so you can leave the podcast feeling that you learned a little something new! Think Edutainment meets Edgar Allen Poe with a dash of gallows humor and awkward banter for a completely unique experience. Our hosts are Kim Baker (the historian) Ally Nemec (the scientist) and Lila Dunk (the comic relief) and the three have been interested in the macabre for much of their lives. Death Dames is an independently run podcast, and everything has been done/made by the hosts, from the art to the music, so you know that the hosts put all their passion into the content they release, and that every listener is our best friend too! Meet the Hosts:
Kim Baker lives in a spooky little house in the woods of Western Massachusetts, with her wonderful husband Brad and their menagerie of pets; crazy cats Dill and Pickles, and a mini tornado, their Australian Cattle Dog named Yoshi. She has a degree in Anthropology and Archaeology, and has been obsessed with ancient history since the age of 7. No, she did not have a lot of friends. Although history is her main love, Kim also took several Forensics and Criminology courses in college and developed a love of true crime which has evolved into a full blown passion. When not researching for the podcast or telling the other hosts creepy stories, Kim can be found binging Netflix, playing video games, drawing on her tablet, reading all books she can find, and writing horror.
Ally Nemec lives in a house even more in the woods of Western Massachusetts than Kim. She lives with the love of her life, a massive Chocolate Lab named Jaxson. She has a degree in Biology, and loves almost all sea animals you could imagine. She is an advocate for shark rights, and will stand by sharks no matter what, and also loves manatees, rays, and most sea life except sunfish. She hates sunfish. She also loves chemistry, and can be caught reading about all kinds of science in her spare time. She is a huge Game of Thrones fan, and has a complicated love affair currently ongoing with Jon Snow and Bucky Barnes, though her real life love is her boyfriend Brandon. She is a proud Ravenclaw, and when she isn’t mixing chemicals in a lab, or hugging fish, she likes big books (and she cannot lie), creating beautiful crochet pieces, and drinking beer, mostly stouts and fruity beers.
Lila Dunk is the comic relief of the group, and has a love for babies, which is mentioned quite often on the podcast. Lila works with children, and finds joy in everything, but she still has an appreciation for the grim stories covered on the show. She is the loudest laugh in a room, and is known for breaking into song, or just being the life of the party. Lila is a true crime junkie, and spends much of her time consuming documentaries and podcasts on murder. Lila also has a love of baking, as she went to school for Culinary Arts and makes cakes and cookies in her spare time. She also is an avid performer, and has a long list of acting roles in her local theater. When not watching True Crime, Lila enjoys listening to K-Pop and Musicals, watching horror movies (she’s a huge Asian horror buff) doing makeup, nail art, and spending time with her friends and family, including her nephew, whom she adores.
